care for your back

Your back is an important and essential muscle in your body. This is why it is so important to care for your back in the right way.

More and more people are spending longer hours at the office, bent over looking at their phones or pushing themselves too hard at the gym. These things are resulting in some really bad backs that are not being properly cared for.

In this blog post, we look at 5 important ways to care for your back, including the use of a Teeter Inversion Table. If you suffer with a bad back, this will be one of the most amazing treats your back has ever experienced!

1. Exercise your core

Having strong core muscles will support your lower back, which will reduce the risk of back injury. Low impact cardiovascular exercises like walking will help increase blood flow to your spine. In turn, this supplies healing nutrients and hydration to the structure of your back. In some cases, we even speak to customers who find exercise too much - so take it slowly. Walk with a friend to the local shop for a few days, and then walk around the park. Take a few more steps every day and they will eventually make a difference.

2. Posture correction

Having read the line ‘posture correction’ it is likely that you have just corrected your posture for now, but you need to focus on correcting your posture permanently. Remind yourself of good posture throughout the day. Think about how you are stood, sat or bent when on your phone flicking through Facebook, playing games or sending texts. An ergonomic chair is a great idea if you work at a desk as this supports your position. Take the chance to walk around every hour or so too, to stretch your back and legs.

A body in motion stays a body with motion.

3.Travel carefully

If you are a frequent flyer then this can really take its toll on your back. Speak to your doctor about pain-free travel tips or have a look for some tips online. It is a good idea to brush up on your driving skills too. Many drivers have bad backs due to car accidents. Retrain yourself on defensive driving or book a session with a driving instructor to focus purely on defensive driving.

4.Hamstring stretches

Many people don’t realise how much lower back pain can be caused by tight hamstrings. By stretching your hamstrings you can decrease the pressure on your pelvis with will provide relief across your back. Check with your doctor about the best hamstring stretch for your back condition though as not all hamstring stretches are good for all back conditions.

5.Teeter Inversion Tables

A Teeter Inversion Table is a form of inversion therapy. You adopt the upside-down posture and this reverses the effects of gravity on your spine. Many people get a really good source of relief from back pain after laying on one of these tables. You’ll also find that there are other benefits to the Teeter Inversion Tables such as reduced stress, increased flexibility and improved blood circulation too.
